Intrinsic Calibration & Motion Blur
In intrinsic calibration, images are captured every n ms and the calibration target (chessboard) is searched for. If the target moves when capture happens, motion blur is possible.
Motion blur in calibration target causes issues in intrinsic calibration.
Possible solutions
- Detect blur in ROI containing the calibration target and rejecting the image if the target is blurry
- Add indicator (time remaining) to image capture
- Manual camera trigger
- Fixed calibration target and manual camera trigger (this is recommended approach in most calibration manuals/documentation)
- Detect bad images during calibration; correct implementation requires careful design
